The candidate might be a Clerk of Works but will not be suitable for a site manager. This is a temporary role for a period of approximately 3 months. The hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m, Monday to Friday. The project is located on New Bond Street in central London. It is a 27,000 ft.² renovation of a Grade 2 listed building. There is a significant amount of engineering works being undertaken to the project however the role will monitor architectural works to the external façade. The opportunity is available immediately. No involvement in problem-solving is required since this is purely monitoring role. A resident engineer already exists on-site to facilitate the former.

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate stability, show a flair for management and possess a good level of competence. You should have a relevant degree or similar qualification in construction related field.

In April 2011, we completed procurement of responsive repairs, maintenance, refurbishment and gas servicing contracts and appointed Morrison and Mears as our new working Partners.  The post holder will support the management WNWhL main partner contracts, to facilitate and administer cost management duties to allow operation teams to effectively administer their work stream budget with accurate and up to date information.

The role: You will play a key role in preparing for detailed work stream monthly forecasts and cost report.  Assist with the coordination of performance and reviewing of responsive repair Schedule of Rates (SORs) pricing structure development and application to takeoffs, derived quantities, quality assumptions and cost variances

You will coordinate the responsive repair contract variances, compensation events, early warning notices and the change control process and undertake invoice assessment and payments.

Responsible for collating and commissioning the planned repair schemes in accordance with the NEC Service Contract and financial regulations.

What we are looking for: We are looking for a cost control officer who possesses excellence cost control and project management skills. 

Exposure to NEC form of contract is preferred but not a pre-requisite.  The successful candidate will be a systematic individual who is able to manage his/her time to ensure valuation and reporting deadlines are met by the team. Needs to be a strong yet personable character who can liaise with the contractors and cross teams within the business.

Identifying the plant, labour and material resources required for the construction and identifying possible programme conflicts or constructability issues in advance of the works and making recommendations on alternative approaches. You will be working with Formwork/Falsework suppliers to develop the most time/cost effective system. Identifying and resolving any design issues either directly or through communication with the Designers. You will be coordinating with the relevant Government representatives. You will be reporting the status, progress, risk, etc. at the Progress and Site Coordination Meetings and defining and producing any documentation to supplement the project operations plan to ensure technical requirements are met. You will make recommendations. You will be reporting to the Infrastructure Project Manager. The successful candidate shall possess strong programme and cost awareness skills and shall be a good communicator with proven leadership abilities. The ideal candidate will have worked as a Claims Consultant across more than one of the above sectors and have demonstrable skills and experience in claims management, claims strategy, dispute prevention and resolution (litigation, arbitration, mediation and adjudication). You must also be capable and experience in the production of quality claims document writing and preparation and have previous FIDIC contract experience. You will need to have gained experience of international construction / engineering projects and ideally also have a relevant Degree as well as being MRICS qualified plus possibly have a further Construction Law or Diploma in construction Law or similar if possible. The project is the construction of a large manufacturing plant from the ground up for the processing of food stuffs. The project is very high tech so any previous experience in the construction of similar projects would be welcomed including similar type projects e.g. pharmaceutical and similar. Our client would prefer someone who has equal mechanical to electrical experience and who has ideally both project management and quantity surveying experience with the project management being the most important and it would be preferred if you had held a similar role with a firm of consultants rather than contractors.
