Developers shortlisted for Silvertown Quays

12 Sep 11 The London Development Agency and Newham Council has shortlisted seven developers to come up with proposals for its Silvertown Quays site in east London’s Royal Docks.

The seven developers have been asked to produce outline proposals for the 20 hectare site by 10 October 2011.

The shortlist is:

  • St George Central London
  • Development Securities Consortium (Development Securities, Kier, Grainger and Places for People Homes)
  • Hutchinson Whampoa Properties (Europe)
  • Stanhope
  • British Land/Barratt Developments
  • Chelsfield Consortium (Chelsfield Partners, First Base and Imagination Europe)
  • DV4 Limited (advised by Delancey Real Estate Asset Management)

The LDA also reports strong interest in its Royal Albert Dock site. The LDA will brief potential investors in this 35 acre site this week. The LDA will then, with the support of London and Partners, promote the Royal Albert Dock site to potential Chinese investors later this month.

LDA chief executive Lurene Joseph said: "The opportunities in the Royal Docks – at Silvertown Quays and the Royal Albert Dock – are attracting attention from some of the biggest developers and investors. We are pleased with the high level of market interest and we look forward to seeing their proposals to turn these sites into world class developments – urban centres with thriving businesses, high quality jobs and first-class communities."

The Mayor of Newham Sir Robin Wales said: "London is moving east and there is huge potential here for investment, growth and greater prosperity. The Royal Docks are where London's future essential economic growth can truly thrive. There has never been a better time to invest in the new heart of London."
