Morrison picks up £50m of work on Shetland gas project

27 Jun 11 Morrison Construction, the Scottish construction business of Galliford Try, has been awarded a £50m contract by Petrofac for civils infrastructure on a huge gas project.

Petrofac is lead contractor on a £500m onshore gas plant for Total E & P UK Ltd and Dong E&P (UK) Ltd in the Shetland Islands.

Morrison has been contracted for access roads, plant, foundations, underground drainage structures, buildings, and hard landscaping. The works will be carried out on land adjacent to Sullom Voe terminal. 

Work starts next month and is scheduled for completion in October 2013.

Galliford Try chief executive Greg Fitzgerald expressed his delight at the award, particularly as Petrofac is a new client for his company. He also said: “We have a leading presence in the Scottish construction market and this project draws on the wide range of building and civil engineering skills we can deliver for our clients."

Galliford Try has also won a £23m contract for a residential contract in west London, on a site previously occupied by Chelsea College of Art.
