£2bn Paramount theme park planned for Kent

9 Oct 12 Plans for a £2bn amusement park for north Kent are being drawn up by a consortium of companies including Lafarge and Brookfield Multiplex.

The proposed development is on the Swanscombe Peninsula near the Ebbsfleet International Eurostar station. The 353ha brownfield site is owned by the cement producer Lafarge – formerly Blue Circle.

Development firm London Resort Company Holdings (LRCH) has signed a licensing deal with US film company Paramount for a theme park based on its films.

LRCH backers include Development Securities and international contractor Brookfield Multiplex, as well as Lafarge. Planning work is being led by leisure consulting firm Vision XS.

Funding has yet to be secured but LRCH aspires to submit a planning application in the next 12 to 18 months. It has already been talking to both Dartford and Gravesham Borough Councils and claims their support.
