The 3,000 m2 two-storey XP Free School will have capacity for 350 students aged 11 to 19 years.  Its sports facilities will be shared with Doncaster Athletics Club and Doncaster Rovers FC.

Wates will now complete a 40-week build programme to construct the new school. Features will comprise a main hall, drama spaces and an external multi-use sports field, which is to be shared with neighbours,

Designed by CPMG, the new XP Free School building is based on Wates’ Adapt Schools Solutions model, which was piloted in Doncaster on the flagship reconstruction of Campsmount in 2011.

Having taken its first intake of 50 students in September 2014, XP Free School is currently operating from Keepmoat Stadium and is expected to move into its new building later this year after a 40-week build programme.

Other schools built by Wates in Doncaster recently include the new Outwood Academy Adwick and De Warenne Academy in Conisbrough, both of which were completed in 2013.

Wates regional managing director Phil Harrison said: “Wates’ track record in building schools across Doncaster has, in the past three years, provided what we hope to be inspirational learning spaces that make a meaningful difference to the education of the town’s young people.”
