The appointment follows Apex’s move to set-up there as part of its international growth and expansion plans. Waldren will also be looking to drive growth of the company’s new range of commercial and domestic voltage optimisation products throughout Australia.

He has more than 15 years’ experience in the electrical industry, including managing and controlling major modular wiring projects in Europe for hospitals, schools and local authority developments. He latterly worked as a quantity surveying consultant for the Hastie Group-owned Rotary Northern in the UK before relocating to head up Apex’s new Melbourne-based operation.

Dave Lewis, managing director of Durham-based Apex, said: “We are going for growth over the next few years and driving the company forward to open up new opportunities in Australia. Simon will play a key role in this, targeting the building and construction supply chain in Australia to promote the benefits of the pre-assembled approach to improve quality while delivering cost and time saving benefits.”
