Arcadis lands €40m role on Grand Paris Express

9 Sep 13 Arcadis has won a 16-year project and programme management contract for 100km of the Grand Paris Express metro project.

The Grand Paris Express will provide more than 200km  of new metro lines and will mainly be underground. The contract awarded to Arcadis is for the 100km of ‘red line’ and will connect the suburbs around Paris, relieving pressure on the current lines through the city centre. The contract represents a total value to Arcadis of €40m (£33.7m). The construction cost estimate for the total project is over €20bn and it will be delivered in the next 16 years.

Arcadis will also provide technical advisory services to the Société du Grand Paris, the authority for the new rail lines serving the Paris region.

The red line is one of the first major investments in this scheme and Arcadis will be involved in all project and programme management services.

Executive board member Friedrich Schneider said: “Together with our project partners Artelia and BG, we have convinced the Société du Grand Paris we are the right team. We are proud to be at the beginning of a long journey of raising public transportation in Paris to the next level with the Grand Paris scheme."
