Arcadis team wins role on Melbourne tunnel

A team led by Arcadis has been appointed as independent reviewer and environmental auditor for West Gate Tunnel in Melbourne, Australia.

The proposed tunnel and elevated motorway will connect the West Gate Freeway with the Port of Melbourne, CityLink and the CBD. It will provide an alternative river crossing and ease pressure on the West Gate Bridge.

The independent review and environmental auditing role will cover the phase to select a preferred respondent through to design and construction. Arcadis is the project lead working in collaboration with WSP and APP.

"The West Gate Tunnel is a truly city-shaping project that will create a critical piece of linking infrastructure, providing commuters with faster and safer travel routes and removing thousands of trucks from residential streets,” said Malcolm McDowall, managing director environment and project services at Arcadis Australia Pacific.
