Arup to advise on Netherlands museum upgrade

24 Jan 14 Arup has been appointed as engineer for the renovation and extension of Museum De Lakenhal in Leiden in the Netherlands.

Construction work is expected to begin next year for completion in 2017.

After redevelopment the Lakenhal will be expected to cater for approximately 70,000 visitors annually. A new wing will offer space for temporary exhibitions of international interest.

Arup will be carrying out building services, fire engineering and safety services work, working with HappelCornelisseVerhoeven Architects and restoration architect Julian Harrap of London.
