Astaldi lands €236m Chilean hospital concession

10 Jun 14 Astaldi Group has won the concession contract for the construction and operation of the new Hospital Metropolitano Occidente in Santiago, Chile.

The total investment amounts to €236m (£191m), of which €151m is for construction work. The contract includes the design, financing and construction, as well as operation of commercial and non-medical services. The new hospital will have 10 floors and will offer 523 beds and 599 car parking spaces for a total surface area of 120,000m2.

The concession period is approximately 20 years, with 52 months for construction activities and 15 years for operation activities.

Design activities are set to begin shortly. The project has been commissioned by Chile’s Ministry of Public Works and will be funded through private funds. The total investment will be repaid through approximately €500m of total concession revenues, 95% of which is guaranteed in the form of availability payments.
