Azerbaijan plans 1km-high tower
Azerbaijan developer Avesta has announced that the focal tower of its Khazar Island project in the Caspian is now to have a world-record height of 1,050m.
Azerbaijan press agency APA reported that the the number of storeys of the Azerbaijan Tower was to have been 185, with a height of 560m. But the company’s leadership has decided to change the project and to build a tower that will be 200m taller than the Burj Khalifa and 50m higher than the Saudi Arabia’s planned Kingdom Tower.
Avesta is reported to have held discussions already with the companies that built the Burj Khalifa. Construction is planned to start in 2018-2019.
