Balfour Beatty wins £12m M40 scheme

19 Feb 15 Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering has won an £11.6m contract to improve junction 12 of the M40 motorway.

There are often queues at this junction in the morning rush hour. The planned improvements to junction 12, new Gaydon, were originally announced by the chancellor in the 2012 autumn statement.

Highways Agency project manager Shah Hussain said: “We’ve worked hard with Warwickshire County Council to create complementary schemes to really cut congestion and improve journeys on this busy stretch of the M40.

“Our work will stop drivers queuing on the hard shoulder – which creates an unsafe environment – and will boost the capacity of the junction to cope with growth in the foreseeable future.”

Work begins on site in March 2015.
