Balfour Beatty picked for £49m town centre scheme in Cheshire

8 Aug 14 A £49m contract to build a retail and leisure development in Northwich, Cheshire has gone to Balfour Beatty.

The 40,000m2 Barons Quay scheme for Cheshire West & Chester Council will involve the construction of seven buildings in Northwich town centre, housing more than 30 retail units including shops, restaurants and a multi-screen cinema.

The redevelopment project underpins the council’s regeneration and growth plans for Northwich.

Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering will be responsible for piling works with Balfour Beatty Engineering Services delivering the mechanical and electrical engineering works.

Works will start on site in autumn 2014 and the scheme is scheduled for completion in winter 2016.

Balfour Beatty Construction Services UK CEO Nicholas Pollard said:  “We aim to leave a lasting legacy as a thoughtful contractor behind us.”
