Balfour Beatty wins $62m San Diego tower

21 Aug 15 Balfour Beatty Construction has won the contract to build a US$62m (£40m), 14-storey apartment tower for Zephyr in California, USA.

The Park Bankers Hill project is located adjacent to Balboa Park in the neighbourhood of Bankers Hill in San Diego. It will include 62 residential units totalling 142,289 square feet, with 4,528 square feet of retail space and a three-level underground car park.

“Having successfully delivered mid- and high-rise multi-family projects in Los Angeles and Northern California, The Park project is a perfect segue into the growing San Diego luxury condominium market,” said Brian Cahill, president of Balfour Beatty Construction’s Southwest Division. “This high-profile project represents the merging of modern architecture, sophisticated interior design and peerless views, while incorporating some of the highest quality finishes available in the market today. The finished product will serve as a centerpiece in the Bankers Hill community, and we are proud to participate in its development.”

On-site amenities will including a swimming pool and spa, a fitness centre and yoga studio, outdoor lounge areas with gas fire pits and a club room, complete with a gourmet kitchen for hosting and catering events.

The project is designed by Dialog Design from Vancouver, Canada, and is scheduled to break ground in September for completion by June 2017.
