Balfour completes Madison piling

11 May 17 Balfour Beatty has completed piling work for the 53-storey £150m Madison, a residential tower block being built at Canary Wharf in London.

A total of 625 piles, ranging between 12 metres to 25 metres in length, have been driven into the ground to provide foundations for the 180-metre high structure.

The Madison has been designed by Make Architects for developer LBS Properties. The glass-clad hexagonal tower will have 423 flats, ranging from studios to three bedrooms, and a swimming pool.

Balfour Beatty regional managing director Graham Hill said: “Utilising Balfour Beatty’s knowledge of complex structures in tall towers and our wide in house expertise we have completed the initial stage of ground works at The Madison. Once completed, the scheme will be a landmark addition to the luxury high end residential towers within the area of Canary Wharf.”

Construction on the project began in March 2016. At construction peak, the project will have a workforce of 400 on site. Completion is scheduled for 2020.
