Eco World Ballymore is planning to build London City Island on a 12 acre site across the River Lea from Canning Town. The residential development of 1,145 houses and flats will be connected to Canning Town by a new footbridge installed last year. [See our previous report here.]

At the centre of the development will be the new headquarters of the English National Ballet, which has committed to move from its current Kensington home.

The developers envisage London City Island as “a new creative and vibrant island metropolis” and “a destination of culture and contemporary living”.

Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin, chairman of Eco World Ballymore, said: “At Eco World Ballymore we aim to combine the imagination and expertise of our two companies to create spectacular new residential destinations with an unrivalled attention to detail. We are honoured that the English National Ballet, renowned for delighting audiences with world class performances of classical ballet and inspiring them with the new, has chosen to call London City Island home. Their presence here truly resonates with our aspirations to offer unique living experiences for our customers at each and every development we undertake.”
