BAM-Alstom JV lands Liege tram PPP

12 Dec 14 A joint venture of BAM and Alstom has been named as preferred bidder for an 11.5km tram line in Liege, Belgium.

The Mobiliège joint venture is formed by BAM PPP PGGM Infrastructure cooperative, Alstom and DG Infra+. Civil and building works will be carried out by BAM Galère, the operating company that carried out construction projects in Wallonia.

The project for Société Régionale Wallonne du Transport (SRWT) involves the construction of a tramway between the Standard Liege Stadium and the northern district Coronmeuse, as well as the renovation of the road network. The project further includes the construction of a tram depot and a park and ride facility on the site of the station at Bressoux. The JV is also responsible for the delivery of the trams and the tramway system.

The project schedule for design, construction and testing is 42 months and work should start in April 2015, after financial close.

After commissioning Mobiliège will be responsible for the maintenance of the infrastructure and the availability of the tramway system for 27 years.
