BAM and Feyenoord scrap stadium plan

10 Mar 15 A BAM consortium has concluded that Feyenoord’s new stadium cannot be built for the Dutch football club’s €206m (£148m) budget.

As a result, BAM and Feyenoord will no longer be cooperating on construction of the new stadium.

BAM Bouw en Vasgoed has come to the conclusion that there is no possibility of carrying out the plans that Feyenoord Founders Consortium (BAM, AM and Siemens) had developed while remaining within the €206m maximum budget set by Feyenoord. The plan was developed based on the requirements specified by Feyenoord. BAM has budgeted construction activities at €215m, excluding inflation.

This means that the cooperation between Feyenoord and BAM has ended. “BAM would like to express its appreciation for the good cooperation with Feyenoord and especially for the constructive contributions from the municipality of Rotterdam and the supporters of Feyenoord,” said a statement. “BAM will remain prepared to offer Feyenoord its experience gained with the (re)construction of stadiums around the world in a new route to carry out the (re)construction plans of Feyenoord.”
