BAM introduces Xbloc armour to India

12 Feb 15 BAM’s Xbloc breakwater armour units are to be used on the Mundra LNG project in India.

BAM Infraconsult – under its trade name Delta Marine Consultants (DMC) – has signed a licensing agreement with Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone for what will be the first  Xbloc application in India.

The project is located in the Gulf of Kutch in the Northwestern Indian state Gujarat. The LNG import terminal will be built on a reclaimed land area which will be protected from cyclone waves by Xbloc shore protection.

Construction of the shore protection will start after completion of physical model tests Production and placement of the Xblocs will start later this year and will continue in 2016.

Xbloc is a patented concrete armour unit, which has been developed by BAM for shore protection and breakwaters. It has been in use around the world since 2004.
