The contract value to Wayss & Freytag is approximately €21m (£16m). The client is Aurelis Asset, represented by Aurelis Real Estate.
Construction work will start this month and it is expected that the tunnel will be completed in August 2016.
The new tunnel is situated in the heart of the new European district and will divert traffic and trams beneath the Europagarten city park. The project includes construction of three tunnel bores of length 395m. The consortium is also responsible for the construction of the control rooms, road construction and all M&E tunnel systems in the two outer tunnel bores, which will carry road traffic.
