BAM picked for office at Carlsberg site

9 Mar 17 BAM Danmark has won a contract to design and build a six-storey office building on the site of Carlsberg’s former brewery near the centre of Copenhagen.

The 7,300m2 office building, which is called Harild Hus, being developed by Carlsberg Byen. The 30ha former brewery complex is being redeveloped into Carlsberg City, based on a masterplan by the Danish architecture agency Entasis. Carlsberg moved its beer production to Jutland in 2008, except for Jacobsen House Brewery, where special beers are brewed.

The new Carlsberg City district will preserve historical buildings while accommodating thousands of houses as well as shops, cultural and sporting facilities, offices, an educational campus and a new railway station.

Architects for Harild Hus are Vilhelm Lauritzen Arkitekter and Nord Architects Copenhagen. BAM Danmark will complete the project in November 2018. The site is near the European School project, which is also under construction by BAM Danmark.
