BAM team lands new Brussels stadium

23 Mar 15 The city of Brussels has picked the BAM-Ghelamco consortium as preferred bidder to build, finance and operate the new Heysel football stadium.

This choice was made after analysis of three competing bids. Negotiations between the city and the preferred candidate will start in the next few weeks; if no agreement is reached, the City reserves the right to turn to another candidate.

In late June 2015, the contract will be signed for the construction of the stadium and construction is expected to start in 2016, when the UEFA will also choose the host city for the opening match of Euro 2020. Brussels, which is already a host city for the championships, is a candidate for this opening match.
