The Richmond Witney retirement village is being built for Richmond Care Villages, which is part of Bupa.

The 4ha facility will offer accomodation for approximately 240 residents. There will be a restaurant, a gym, a swimming pool, a library, a shop and an outdoor bowling green.

A central building will have 60 registered care beds on the first floor and 46 assisted living suites split across the ground and second floors.  To the north of this will be a cluster of 30 independent apartments and to the south a separate cluster of 49 more.

The village is set to open in early 2016.

Albert Josephs, development manager of Richmond Care Villages, said: “We were really impressed by BAM throughout the tender process and look forward to working with them during the development of Richmond Witney. Their professionalism and experience of delivering large projects such as ours, plus their friendly and helpful attitude, gives us confidence that this will be a truly successful development.”

Other BAM projects nearby at the moment include the £11m Softbridge building for St Antony’s College, Oxford, designed by architect Zaha Hadid.
