BAM to build Gloucestershire school

29 Aug 14 South Gloucestershire Council has given the go-ahead for a new £4m primary school.

BAM will build the school on the grounds of King’s Oak Academy, in order to make provision for the large number of young children requiring primary places from September 2015. Work will start on site next month, subject to planning.

The new 1,953m2 primary school will have capacity for 420 pupils aged four to 11. In a move away from traditional primary school design, King's Oak will be substantially open plan, offering more flexible teaching space.

Local highways infrastructure will also be improved as part of the project.

Construction director Neil Dorrington said: "As a company dedicated to corporate social responsibility, we will engage with local companies and school pupils at every opportunity to ensure that the community gets the most from this important scheme."
