BAM wins Antwerp apartment contract

13 Jun 16 BAM subsidiary Interbuild has won a €36m (£28m) contract for apartments in a new neighbourhood being developed in Antwerp, Belgium.

Client for the buildings is property company Triple Living, owner of the Nieuw Zuid development site.

The contract includes a multipurpose building in two parts. Domitys features 116 care homes and common services, while Cocoon has 16 apartments. This building is designed by architect a2o of Hasselt.

Interbuild will also construct a second building, which again consists of two parts: Scheldekaai with 46 apartments and one retail unit, and Zuiderflank with 24 apartments. Baumschlager-Eberle is the architect responsible for the design and Styfhals & Partners will act as executive architect. Like other projects in Nieuw Zuid, the design is based on the passive standard and the apartment buildings are connected to a central heating network.

Interbuild has already been working on several projects for developer Triple Living in Nieuw Zuid. It has completed Kaai Nieuw Zuid (77 apartments) and Campus Nieuw Zuid (147 student rooms). Three projects are still in progress: are Green Desk (office building with 7,000m2 of parking), Zuidertuin (49 apartments) and Zuiderpromenade (29 apartments).
