BAM wins second Danish uni contract

21 Jan 15 BAM Danmark has won a second contract to build research facilities for the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

The latest commission is for the construction of a new biotechnology research centre housing DTU Biosustain - Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability. The contract value is over €27m (£20.5m) and BAM expects to complete the project in July 2016.

It is the second contract for BAM Danmark, which was established in early 2014 to explore the opportunities the Danish construction market. In August 2014, BAM Danmark won the contract for a new office building for researchers from DTU Nanotech, part of the Faculty of Micro and Nanotechnology.

The biotechnolofgy research centre will cover 12,000m2 over six floors and will be the tallest building on the campus at Kongens Lyngby, 15km north of Copenhagen. The building is designed by architects Vilhelm Lauritzen Arkitekter in cooperation with consulting engineer MOE. The centre will contain laboratories for biotechnology research, as well as meeting and office facilities.

DTU appointed BAM on the basis of the most economically advantageous offer, including project organisation and process management.
