Bechtel begins construction of Ohio power plant

23 Jul 15 Bechtel has broken ground this week in the US state of Ohio on a combined-cycle power plant fired by natural gas.

It was awarded the contract in April for the engineering, procurement, construction and start-up of the 700MW Carroll County Energy Facility, which will power more than 740,000 homes in the region from 2017.  The project is for Carroll County Energy, an affiliate of Advanced Power. Bechtel Enterprises partnered with Advanced Power in the development of the scheme.

“We will be using advanced emissions-control technology to make this plant one of the cleanest and most efficient natural gas power facilities in the United States,” said Scott Osborne, general manager - power at Bechtel.

The project will support up to 700 jobs during peak construction and will use local companies to provide services and materials.
