Bouygues lands refurb of landmark Paris post office

3 Feb 16 Bouygues Bâtiment Ile-de-France has been appointed to carry out a major refurbishment of the Louvre Post Office in the heart of Paris.

The strategic project for the La Poste group’s real estate subsidiary, Poste Immo, involves a 32-month transformation of the building into a mixed-use development that will include postal activities, shops, apartments, public facilities and a hotel.

Poste Immo CEO Christian Cléret said: “This is a flagship operation among Poste Immo’s operations on the basis of reclassifying and developing the La Poste group’s assets, taking account of changes in uses, respecting the heritage and history of La Poste and constantly maintaining the highest environmental standards.”

The project, which was designed by architect Dominique Perrault, is intended to open up the building to the city. One of the aims is to reveal the architectural heritage of the building, which was designed in the 19th century by the architect Julien Guadet.

Bouygues Bâtiment Ile-de-France CEO said: “We are very proud of the confidence that the La Poste group has shown in us, which will enable us to partner it in meeting the ambitious and strategic challenge of refurbishing this historic site. Using imaginative building methods and optimised scheduling, we will carry out a far-reaching modernisation programme that is faithful to the architectural project and open to the city.”
