Bouygues tops September league table

2 Oct 15 Bouygues’ £1bn contract for Phase 3 of the Battersea Power Station development in London has secured it the top spot in The Builders’ Conference BCLive contracts league table for September.

The Builders’ Conference registered more than £5bn of new construction contract awards during September 2015, which is double the value of new contracts signed the previous month (unsurprising, as August is traditionally quiet for the industry) and about the same as in September 2014 – “restoring the industry’s continuing upsurge,” says The Builders’ Conference CEO Neil Edwards.

Balfour Beatty took second place with a £499m haul comprising three projects. The largest of these is a £350m contract to provide a new engineering campus at the University of Manchester.

Mace landed nearly £400m of contract awards, including a £150m apartment development on Greenwich Peninsula.

BAM is ranked fourth for the month with a near £200m total, although this does include a £150m deal for the repair and refurbishment of seven law courts across the Republic of Ireland.

GMI Construction Group confirmed its status as one to watch by sneaking into the BCLive Top 10 for the second consecutive month, courtesy of a £135m contract to build a new rugby stadium for Castleford Tigers
