Bouygues wins Western Guiana hospital contract

27 Mar 15 Bouygues Construction has won a €85m (£63m) contract for a new hospital complex in Western Guiana.

The Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni hospital will be built by DV Construction and Bouygues Energies & Services, both subsidiaries of Bouygues Construction.

The project is in line with Bouygues Construction’s desire to establish permanent operations in the French overseas departments of the Antilles and Guiana.

The new Western Guiana hospital complexwill consist of five buildings incorporating five operating theatres, a maternity ward and a total of 250 beds. DV Construction is the lead company in the consortium responsible for constructing the hospital, which also involves its subsidiary GTC Construction and Ribal TP, part of Colas Group. Bouygues Energies & Services will carry out the low- and high-voltage electricity package as well as a package that includes HVAC and plumbing services.

Bouygues Entreprises France-Europe CEO Pascal Minault added: “The construction of this multidisciplinary health facility to high standards will create jobs and it will help improve access to healthcare and the quality of life for the inhabitants of Western Guiana, a region experiencing rapid population growth.”

Work is scheduled to last approximately four years. More than 200 people will be working on site at peak periods.
