Brookfield Multiplex completes Melbourne tower

16 Aug 16 Brookfield Multiplex has completed construction of a AU$124m (£74m) residential apartment building in Melbourne, Australia.

Platinum Tower in the Southbank area of the city has been built for Salvo Property Group to a design by architect Squillace. The building has 52levels and comprises a total of 438 apartments together with facilities for residents.

Resident facilities are located on the top level of the tower, including a swimming pool, gym, private dining, gardens and a sky lounge with views of Melbourne’s central business district, Albert Park and Port Phillip Bay.

The podium of Platinum Tower accommodates retail, a ground-level restaurant and café and concierge facilities for residents. It also provides nine levels of car parking.

Challenging elements of the construction included a green façade to the Podium structure, a cantilevered structure at Level 40 to support curtain wall glazing and construction of a swimming pool on Level 52.

Some 1,900 people worked on-site during the construction which spanned over 23 months.
