Chris Green, a chartered quantity surveyor, joins Murphy in October as group commercial director. At Capita he is commercial director for its property and infrastructure division, responsible for front-end contract negotiation, project management and dispute resolution.

Alastair Smyth joins Murphy as group engineering director to work across its four business sectors. He was recently UK head of civil and structural engineering at Capita. Before that, he was technical director at consulting engineer Fairhurst, working across engineering disciplines in rail, underground and commercial development.

Chris Green said: “I’m looking forward to making the move from consultancy to contractor, especially to a company like Murphy. It’s an exciting time for them and they have big plans. I’m keen to play my part and bring my experience to support Murphy’s future growth.”

Alastair Smyth said: “I am delighted to be joining Murphy at this exciting time in the company’s history. Murphy is a leading engineering and construction firm with a proud heritage and reputation, so I look forward to developing our engineering capability and supporting the rest of the leadership team in implementing our 10-year plan.”
