The Komatsu shipment includes a pair of 21-tonne PC210LC-8s, two 13-tonne PC138US-10s and a 22-ton PC228USLC-8.

Director Nick Caulfield said: “We felt in recent months that there has been more optimism in the marketplace and so we placed the order in an expectance of an upturn in demand. The decision has been the correct one as we have now secured additional contracts and with these additional excavators we have been in the perfect position to react quickly to secure the new work.”

Previously having bought Hitachi and Volvo excavators, this is the first time that the company has chosen Komatsu. “After researching the market, we shortlisted six potential suppliers and invited them to tender for the package order,” Mr Caulfield said.

"Komatsu not only were competitive on price, but their machines were better in terms of fuel consumption, which was another important factor in our decision making. Coupled with good design and ergonomics, this made for a winning combination and we were happy to award Komatsu the contract, who were also able to fulfil the order relatively quickly.”
