Centrica and Gatwick jobs worth £95m to Carillion

28 Mar 12 Carillion has picked up a couple of support services contracts with a combined value of £95m.

Carillion has been awarded a five-year contract to provide facilities (FM) services for Centrica. The contract is worth £50m over five years, running to 2017.

Carillion has already provided Centrica with FM services since 2005 and under this new contract, Carillion will provide a range of FM and energy efficiency services for 92 properties with a total area of some 8.6 million square feet.

The second contract is for Gatwick Airport Ltd. Carillion has been selected for one of the first contracts to be let under the new £1.2bn major projects framework. The £45m pier 5 reconfiguration project involves delivering an improved pier service to meet future growth in passenger numbers at Gatwick's North terminal. A new departures corridor will be built on top of the existing pier to keep arriving and departing passengers apart. Work starts immediately and completion is planned for April 2014.

Carillion got the Gatwick job ahead of other framework contractors including Balfour Beatty, Mace, Morgan Sindall and Willmott Dixon.

Carillion chief executive Richard Howson said: "Winning these contracts reflects our focus on delivering excellent customer service and value for money.  This is the foundation for our continuing success in winning contracts across our chosen market sectors and we look forward to working in partnership with Centrica and Gatwick Airport to deliver these contracts".
