Cimic picked for New Zealand hospital

8 Jan 16 Cimic Holdings - formerly Leighton Holdings - has won a NZ$300m (£136m) contract for a new hospital building in Christchurch.

Subsidiary CPB Constructors has been picked by New Zealand's Ministry of Health to build the Christchurch Hospital Acute Services Building (ASB).

CPD Contractors managing director Roman Garrido said: "Following a competitive tender process our team has worked with the Ministry of Health under a pre-construction services agreement to develop the project's methodologies, programme and cost. The process has captured innovations and savings which will enhance efficient construction."

The ASB will adjoin Christchurch Women's Hospital. It will include a new emergency department and oeprating theatres, an expanded intensive care unit, children's facilities, a radiology department and a rooftop helipad.

Construction is planned for completion by mid 2018.
