Colchester Borough Council awards gas servicing contract to Morrison
Colchester Borough Council has awarded leading repairs and maintenance provider Morrison a new multi million pound gas servicing contract.
The four year contract, which will commence in October 2010, is worth £2.4million over its term and has a possible two year extension worth £1.2 million. Morrison secured the contract following a competitive tender process against 5 other companies.
Morrison will be working in partnership with Colchester Borough Homes to carry out gas servicing and repairs to over 5,200 properties across the Borough of Colchester, including a small number of properties with solid fuel and oil heating systems.
As part of the new partnering arrangement the existing team of 6 gas qualified engineers will transfer over to Morrison from the Council and will operate from Morrison’s existing depot in Great Wenham.
Councillor Tim Young, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Community Safety, said: “Colchester Borough Council is committed to providing decent homes for all, as well as ensuring that residents have access to safe and efficient gas facilities in their properties.”
Guy Wakeley, Chief Executive of Morrison, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Colchester Borough Council and look forward to delivering a high quality service to its residents.
"The commencement of this new relationship with Colchester Borough Council, further strengthens Morrison’s presence in Essex and Suffolk, with successful partnership already established with Babergh District Council and Thurrock Council adding to our growing number of gas servicing contracts.”
