Competition authority clears A-Plant acquisition
The Competition & Markets Authority (CMA) has decided not to intervene in the acquisition of Lion Trackhire by Ashtead Plant Hire Company (A-Plant).
A-Plant agreed a deal to buy Worksop-based portable roadway company Lion Trackhire last month from owners Carl Springthorpe and Dale Robinson. The price was not disclosed.
The CMA’s interest was aroused because A-Plant had already taken over Eve Trakway and its parent company Accession Group in 2013 for £28m.
However, in a statement today, the Competition & Markets Authority said that it had decided not to refer the merger to a Phase 2 investigation under the provisions of the Enterprise Act 2002.
