Although traditionally the representative body for piling contractors, the FPS has been looking to increase its reach across the ground engineering sector.
Its three new associate members are: global consulting engineer Arup; niche geotechnical consultant Geofirma; and Pile Designs, which provides geotechnical advice and calculations.
FPS chair Alasdair Henderson said: “A strategic aim of the FPS is to more fully represent geotechnical contracting, allowing it to provide a single and coordinated voice within the piling sector, the wider construction industry and at government level. The addition of these new members moves us closer to achieving this goal and each’s unique individual business and sector view is a very welcome addition to enlarging our knowledge base.”
FPS also counts consultants Atkins, ESG and Testconsult among its associate members, along with several equipment suppliers, such as Liebherr, Casagrande and Soilmec.
