Contractors fly the flag
The UK’s biggest contractors have joined together in a publicity campaign to promote the achievements of the construction industry.
They have committed to support an initiative called ‘Creating Britain’s Future’ by adding the campaign logo to their site hoardings.
The aim of the campaign is to tell people that construction is an important industry to the UK economy. They want people to know that construction companies do a good job and employ lots of people.
The bosses of the major contractors had a letter published in The Daily Telegraph this morning announcing the launch of their campaign - "highlighting what this great industry can do," they say.
The campaign will be formally launched today at Paramount, Centre Point, in central London, where Labour MP Dame Tessa Jowell will join construction industry leaders including UK Contractors Group chairman James Wates, Kier’s Paul Sheffield, BAM’s Martin Rogers, David Lawther of ISG, Rhian Kelly of the CBI and representatives of contractors including Costain, Sir Robert McAlpine and Balfour Beatty.
