Contracts let for €800m of Stuttgart rail tunnelling
German rail operator Deutsche Bahn has awarded contracts worth €800m (£665m) for a new underground station and tunnels in Stuttgart.
The 300m underground station contract will go to a consortium led by Züblin. The tunnelling has been split into two parts, one led by Hochtief and the other by Baresel.
The latest contract awards mean that about 50% of the total construction works for Stuttgart and 90% of the tunnelling have been let.
The formal contracts will be signed later this month.
