The application was lodged by Crossrail Ltd, which intends to appoint development partners to build a 15-storey tower block at the junction of Bishop’s Bridge Road and the Grand Union Canal. The development will house 320,000 sq ft of office space with shops at street level.

The building has been designed to incorporate access to Crossrail, National Rail and Hammersmith & City line services at Paddington.

Crossrail land and property director Ian Lindsay said: “Securing planning permission for this major new commercial development is an important step forwards in the continued transformation of Paddington. Crossrail is the first UK rail project to integrate new and improved rail infrastructure with high-quality over-site development and public realm improvements. This development will be a huge boost to regeneration in the area and a further phase in the renaissance of Paddington as a major commercial location.”

Crossrail plans to develop more than three million square feet (gross) of commercial, residential and retail space above its stations and construction sites. A third of this now has planning permission including Bond Street West (Davies Street), 101 Moorgate, Fisher Street and a number of developments above Crossrail Tottenham Court Road station.
