West Cumbria contractor Mossom and Sydney has ceased trading, with up to 20 job losses.

The Maryport firm had worked in the area since the mid-1970s.

Manager Terry Crosier told the Times & Star the closure had been due to the financial climate.

Mossom and Sydney operated primarily in the housing sector, and one of its biggest clients was social landlord Home Group.

The company was also involved in the renovations of the former Carlton cinema in Maryport and the town's Maritime Museum.
