Dallas crane collapse kills two
A crane collapse killed two workers on Saturday at a building site on the Dallas campus of the University of Texas.
The crane was being dismantled when it fell across the partially constructed arts and technology building. The two workers were employees of Harrison Crane & Hoist.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. The USA’s Occupational Health & Safety Administration (OSHA) was notified immediately and its investigation staff have arrived on site. Engineers have been engaged to assess the damaged crane and to develop a plan to remove it from the site. Both OSHA and independent investigators will review the plan and witness the safe removal of the crane and repair to the damaged facility.
