Dutch engineering consultancy Arcadis is to acquire London-based construction project manager EC Harris, according to reports from Reuters.
Arcadis, which operates globally, wants to boost its European and Middle Eastern business.
EC Harris, which also has offices around the world, offers services including asset and facilities strategy, quantity surveying, programme, project and construction management.
Arcadis said it would issue 3 million shares to EC Harris partners and pay an undisclosed cash amount from existing credit facilities.
The Dutch firm, which expects this year's trading to be in line with 2010 levels, has recently diversified away from the cyclical construction industry into water management, environmental treatment services and projects ranging from the design of green cities in China to "bioterrorism" detection in the United States.
