Electrical standards go digital

20 Apr 15 Electricians and electrical engineers are being urged to go digital with a new suite of publications.

Electrical Standards Plus is a new family of publications in digital format from the Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET) that set out the IET wiring regulations and industry guidance.

Although traditional print versions of the IET’s publications will still be available, the IET is encouraging all electrical professionals to switch to Electrical Standards Plus. The digital version runs on a subscription model, with one-, three- or five-year subscriptions available to three different tailor-made packages, priced between £60 and £350 per year.

IET chief electrical engineer Geoff Cronshaw, at the IET said: “Electrical Standards Plus is the only place to get digital versions of BS 7671 and the whole suite of accompanying IET guidance books. Furthermore, anyone purchasing a subscription to the new platform will be given the peace of mind that they are using a genuine version of an IET publication.

“Many electrical professionals are very mobile, many moving between a number of jobs and projects on a daily basis. The new Electrical Standards Plus platform supports this greatly, giving electrical professionals the ability to find the information they need at the click of a button without the need to carry or consult heavy and detailed books. Bronze, Silver and Gold subscriptions allow electrical professionals to spread the cost of these essential publications, and access a tailor-made package of content which is relevant to their requirements.”
