Fluor team reaches financial close on $5.6bn Maryland light rail scheme

21 Jun 16 Purple Line Transit Partners has reached financial close on a project to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the new line in Maryland, USA.

The team is made up of Fluor, Meridiam Infrastructure Purple Line and Star America Purple Line.

The Purple Line project includes 21 stations along a 25km alignment.

Fluor is is involved in the entire 36-year life cycle of the $5.6bn (£3.7bn) project, which includes a $2bn design-build contract.

Fluor is the managing partner of the design-build team, Purple Line Transit Constructors, which is made up of Fluor Enterprises, Lane Construction and Traylor Bros, with subcontractor Atkins North Americaas the lead designer. Following the construction, Purple Line Transit Operators, a Fluor-led team of Fluor Enterprises, Alternate Concepts and CAF USA, will provide 30 years of operations and maintenance services.

The project is for Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) .
