Since retiring from Barratts in 2015, Mark Clare has been developing his non-executive portfolio. He is the senior independent director of both United Utilities and Ladbrokes Coral Group and is also a non-executive director of Premier Marinas Holdings.
Mark Clare, aged 59, will succeed Margaret Ford as non-executive chairman of Grainger’s board on 13th February 2017.
Also joining the board of Grainger as a non-executive director at the same time will be Justin Read, (55) who was finance director of Speedy Hire between 2008 and 2011 before joining Segro until last month. He was also recently appointed as a non-executive director of Ibstock, the brick company.
Chief executive Helen Gordon said that Baroness Ford had been instrumental in Grainger strategic planning. “We would like to thank Margaret for her significant contribution over the past nine years. She has been instrumental in identifying the need for a step change in the group's strategic direction and has supported the new team in delivering it. The group is being transformed into a private rented sector investment business with a sustainable and visible income stream from well-run private rented residential homes, and is in a strong position to continue to deliver on its growth strategy and enhance shareholder returns."
