Galliford Try to build new Birmingham Conservatoire

21 Jul 15 Galliford Try has landed a £46m contract to build Birmingham City University’s new music school.

The new Birmingham Conservatoire has been designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios. It will house teaching facilities and a 500-seat auditorium as well as two additional performance spaces.

WYG is on board as civil & structural engineer, Hoare Lea is mechanical & electrical consultant and Faithful & Gould is quantity surveyor for the project.

When the contract notice was first puyblishjed last summer, it was estimated that the main contract would come in between £37m and £35m.

Galliford Try executive chairman Greg Fitzgerald said: "We are delighted to be involved in such a high-profile and significant project for both Birmingham and the surrounding area. We look forward to working with Birmingham City University and the design team to produce a world-class musical facility for both the students and the wider community."
