Galliford Try wins schools contracts worth £55m

7 May 15 Galliford Try has been appointed for two new schools contracts worth up to £55m.

The company’s building business has reached financial close on the £38m Hull & East Riding batch of projects under the first phase of the government's Priority School Building Programme. The batch includes the £18.6 m construction of Hessle High School & Sixth Form College, as well as new buildings for Eastfield, Francis Askew, Wold and Ainthorpe primary schools.

In addition, Morrison Construction has been appointed preferred bidder by Moray Council for the refurbishment of four primary schools. The package is worth up to £17m to the business.

Galliford Try executive chairman Greg Fitzgerald said: "Education remains a cornerstone for our building business across the UK and we are delighted to have been awarded these contracts. We look forward to working with our partners to create school buildings fit for the provision of a high-quality education for their pupils."
