GAP raises telehandler offering

23 Oct 15 GAP Hire Solutions has invested £4.5m on more than 100 telehandlers from JCB and Manitou.

The purchase significantly expands GAP’s telehandler fleet, both in terms of units and capacity and reach, with machines up to 18 metres lifting height.

The telehandlers are being supplied by JCB Scot and various Manitou dealers throughout the UK.

GAP head of procurement Ken Stewart said: “Up until very recently our fleet holding of telehandlers was relatively small both in terms of numbers and sizes available. As a result, we relied heavily on our re-hire partners to fulfil our overall hire requirements. The new holding of telehandlers means we can supply our customers quickly with brand new equipment straight from our depots.”

He added: “We have a number of customers who have specified the Manitou products as they offer sizes which are currently unavailable elsewhere, in particular the MT1840 which can lift 4 tonnes at a reach of 18 metres.

“The new JCB model 525-60 has also been well received by both depots and customers and we look forward to continuing our long term and excellent working relationship with both companies.”

GAP claims that it invests a greater percentage of its annual turnover in new products than any other UK equipment hire firm. Its previous purchases this year include Terex dumpers, Hamm rollers and Atlas Copco compressors and breakers.
